CiviCRM Showcase: Signing up as a New Member

Introduction #

Each showcase that is presented here, shows functionality that is provided by CiviCRM in combination with other systems. The site intends to show examples of how CiviCRM can support organisations when reaching out to their constituents, try to engage or activate constituents or raise funds to continue aiming for their goals.

The videos on the use case pages, show functionality from different perspectives:

  • the constituent / visitor of your website
  • the organisation’s staff member
  • a manager

For all use cases, we’ve created separate pages to explain how that particular use case was set up and configured or provided links to places where the setup is explained.

The ‘New Members’ use Case #

Grace has supported Save the Forest for some time now. She signed up for the newsletters and made several donations. To support Save the Forest even more ánd to enjoy the benefits of the membership, she decides to sign up as a new member after she has read an article in the newsletter.

From the Constituent’s Perspective #

Grace clicks on the link in the Newsletter and is taken to a prefilled webform, which guides her through the signing up process to become a new member.

From the Staff Member’s Perspective #

Reports #

The person responsible for Memberships checks the report ‘New Members’ every morning to see which new members signed up. To welcome new members he wants to create a welcoming letter that he then prints. The welcoming letter contains information about the membership like start date and type of membership. After printing the letter, the contact data is removed from the report. That way he knows which new members he still needs to send a Welcoming Package.

Create Sepa File #

Once a month the administrator creates a SEPA file for all members that have signed up with Direct Debit as the preferred Payment Method.

Mark as received #

The next step is to set the contributions to ‘completed’ after the bank has collected the membership fee.

From the Management’s Perspective #

As a manager you want to be able to analyse the data. With reports like this, management can the effect of certain marketing campaigns.
